A more indulgent piece, I just wanted to feel at ease
Seagulls calling in earshot
I feel the waves pulse wrap its tendrils around my legs
Then sinking back to the source
I want to lie here
Dig my skin into the banks
Of the coast

The weight of the clouds
Protects me from stark shadows
A comforting mood for my thoughts to grow
From the embrace of unrealities

Palms swivel overhead
Cross and collide
Forming a thicket that shields the island’s inner refuge
Of flourishing flowers and other glorious floras
Sights and movements beyond my reach
Abiding in fertile, shaded crevices

But my legs are already decided
I will be a beached mermaid for a while
Existing to observe the moments scrolling by
Through deep telescopic eyes
