Adventurer you must be brave.
What you seek lies across the waves.
From there you'll journey through a cave
and find a troubled path to pave.
Avoid the ones that rant and rave.
They'll pull you to an early grave.
Give up the wish the dreamer gave
and only then you'll make the save!

Author's note: This was written for "EIGHT, the Weekend - 08.10.24"   using the prompt word "CAVE" as an option.

As I was drowning in the sea,
a Mermaid came and rescued me.

Her lips touched mine upon the shore
and I could breath again once more.

After she had made the save
she vanished quick beneath the waves.

It seemed a dream but I know this...
I will treasure this mermaid's kiss.

Prompt: "Mermaid" for "EIGHT, the Weekend - 08.03.24"

This was most certainly inspired by the Disney version of The Little Mermaid.

A number riddle, not too hard.
I am not even so I'm odd.
I'm less then twenty more then ten.
Think I'm composite? Guess again!
No snake eyes roll applies to me.
For second digit don't count threes.
Perhaps my value's now foreseen
I am the number ?????????

Never leave start but still win a race.
Travel to Mars without entering space.
Spell lemonade but don't use an L.
Reveal a secret but also don't tell.
Eat chocolate cake but don't use your mouth.
Try to head north by just running south.
Win a chess match by losing your king. *ChessKingB*
You're gambling with preposterous things!

You may think that I'm small
That I'd avoid a fight,
But do not be fooled
Cause I've got a sharp bite!

I'd avoid throwing hands
But don't say that I can't.
You'll find my spirit animal
Is the Great Fire Ant!

When I look in the mirror Tomorrow looks back.
I see the outcome of all that has occurred.
The planned and the unexpected, the good and the bad.
The future comes to me like raindrops in a hurricane.
There are moments when I wish I could use my knowledge to change what is for me but what could be for you.
Alas a message from me is like a postcard without a stamp left to be lost in the mail of time.
I often feel like I am staring at a photograph of the past haunted be what I cannot change.
But some outcomes shine above the rest as I see dreams come to life and hopes fulfilled more beautifully than ever imagined.

Cows of Which I never saw.
Mountain Majesties galore.
Twilight's called the violet hour;
shares its name with certain flowers.
Harold's crayon make the list.
Prince's rain and amethyst.
Royals share this color craze.
It's all just a Purple Haze!

A discarded crumpled up piece of paper
colorful and coated with wax.
It flies in the breeze with no set destination...
Content to go wherever the wind carries it.

It's worthless now but once it was a guardian
protecting a sweet prize within.
Ensuring a moment of joy to the one who unwrapped it,
its purpose is now fulfilled.

Prompt: "WRITE A POEM ABOUT SOMETHING WORTHLESS." for "EIGHT, the Weekend - 06.16.24"

Authors Note: I was picturing a Starburst wrapper when writing this. It is one of my favorite types of candies.

You'd have thought that the days of sailing were over when the last drop of water evaporated on Earth. Instead, the invention of the Sand Thruster gave rise to Desert Sailing where ships could race across the remnants of the dead planet at thousands of miles per hour. From that came the Pacific Regatta, an endurance boat race that proved to be one of the most deadly and cutthroat survivor sports of all time.
