Take UP Your Cross Prompt: James 5:13-16 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. I feel the Lotd prompting me to focus on healing for a bit. Over the next few days this is what I intend to base the prompts on. What are your thoughts about healing? There are some doctrines that teach healing is a “sign” gift. It was used by the Holy Spirit to validate the disciples and apostles. They believe in praying for health and healing, but don't believe in praying for instant healing. Others believe in holding healing services and healing ministries. I have heard several different views on the subject. Let's discuss it and see what the Bible has to say about it. Also, what are your thoughts on this passage? Answer: My personal thoughts on the subject are why even bother asking God for healing if you don't believe in it? How many times did Jesus tell the people he healed that it was their faith that made them whole? I believe that it is possible for God to heal instantly, but sometimes he allows us to suffer certain things to grow us and teach us or to show his glory in us. What I struggle with is knowing if and when it is truly God's will to heal us. If I know God wants us to be whole and without blemish, why do I struggle with this? One reason is because I know that while man looks on the outward appearance, God looks on the heart. He isn't just interested in healing our physical bodies, but our soul and spirit too. The soul’s healing is more important than physical healing, so that is of utmost priority. The physical body is temporary. The soul is eternal. Sometimes illness can be the physical result of sin. In this passage above it talks about confessing our faults to one another and praying for each other so we can be healed. We should definitely pray for one another. God may hear our prayers for others and heal them while at the same time forgiving their sins. God is full of mercy and forgiveness. This is his very nature. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Observations: Verse 23- All things are lawful, but it doesn't always benefit yourself or other people. It could in fact be destructive. Verse 24- we are to seek to help others in stead of always seeking our own gain. Application: Put others before yourself. Prayer: Dear God, Help me to always remember to put you and others before myself. I must seek your glory and interests first, and in doing so, you will add everything else to me. Thank you for your precious promises. In Jesus’s name, Amen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prompt: Is there a difference between joy and happiness? I think joy is a level up from happiness. When I think of being happy, happiness, it is more of a contentment. Joy, or being joyful, is more of a stronger feeling. Joy is happiness, but it is a happiness on steroids. It is excitement, a celebration. Well, that's my opinion for what it is worth anyway. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy with Captain Kirk and found this planet: Elfin Dragon - contest hunting (264) Read this item:
Write about this poem in your Blog entry today. I am realizing how much our sin truly does effect the next 3 or 4 generations. In my case, this is the type of relationship I had wanted with my parents. This is not the type of relationship I had with them. Quite recently, God revealed to me that some of the things I have suffered are a result of my parents’ and grandparents’ sins. For an example, my Dad’s dad was an alcoholic. This effected my dad mentally and emotionally. As a result, I also suffered abuse. It doesn't make the abusive actions right, but it allows me to see the bigger picture and be more understanding of the situation. This also allows me to confess the sins of the previous generations to God, and ask forgiveness. Part of true repentance is also accepting God's judgement and punishment. Believe it or not, this actually helps in the healing process. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day 9120: June 2, 2021 Prompt: What do you think about writing prompt? What type of prompts do you like? What type of prompts do you dislike? I am not a huge fan of the prompts that have you use certain words. I tend to like general questions the best. I like the open-ended prompts that allow me more freedom with my words.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture writing - Colossians 3:12-14 Scripture: 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. Observations: Verse 12-We are to be merciful, humble, kind, meek, and longsuffering. Verse 13-We are also to forgive one another as Christ forgave us. Verse 14-We are to love one another as Christ loves us. Application: We are to love one another as Christ loves us. Prayer: Dear God, Help us to be mindful to love one another the way you love us. Help us to have the sacrificial love of Christ for one another. Help us to be quick to forgive. In Jesus’s name, Amen |
