| Let's see - I'm just about to turn 57 years old. I've been out of work for nearly a year, having had a double kidney infection go septic and about trashing my kidneys. I was starting to get into shape, and now all of a sudden, I'm back at square one. I am grateful to be alive, it just sucks having to start over again. I started on Writing.Com August 14th, 2022. I have quite a bit of stuff in my portfolio, including a game I've made up, lots of poetry, and a couple of blogs/books where my writing lives. I've made quite a few friends here on Writing.Com, and I am grateful to be part of this wonderful community. I am a mom of 3-30+ year olds and a grandma to 4 - 2 boys and 2 girls, ages 12, 11, 10 and 6. They are my hearts - all of them. I am lucky to have both parents still around and kicking. My mom just went on her first ever cruise this year, and she will be 80 in November. Dad will be 76 in November as well. I am the oldest of 4 girls: My sisters that are living are Erica, 55; and Dawn, who is 52. My other sister, Kathy, passed away April 5, 2021 due to multiple myeloma. She would have been 53 this year. I live in the panhandle of Texas, My folks and one sister live in Michigan, and my other sister lives on the Mississippi and Tennessee border. Two of my kids live here in Texas - I live with them, and my youngest lives an hour north of New Orleans, Louisiana - we are definitely spread out. This past December, we were all able to meet up and my folks' house for an early Christmas visit. It was nice to see everyone. My dad likes fishing, gardening, and woodwork. My mom likes crocheting, knitting, and reading books. I enjoy music, reading, crocheting, cooking and sewing, as well as reading books and writing poetry. I try my hand at different things here on Writing.Com, but poetry is by far my favorite type of writing. The different types of music I like: A Capella (VoicePlay, Home Free, The Bass Gang) Metal Covers (Jonathan Young, Dan Vasc) I also like the songs from Momma Mia and Hairspray and also Grease. I like a lot of Disney tunes - both villain and hero songs, and I like worship music as well. You could say that my taste is rather eclectic. I enjoy reading different books. I like series style books as well. I enjoy reading the In Death series by J.D. Robb. I like the "Dark" series by Christine Feehan. Other authors I like are Jane Austen, Sherilynn Kenyon, and John Grisham. My reading is as varied as my music, I would say. I do a lot of different crochet projects. I've done toys, as well as blankets and am working on a few projects right now - a couple of blankets and a shawl. I enjoy watching Jayda In Stitches on YouTube. She is easy to follow and understand on learning how to do projects. My favorite stitch set is called the "Granny Square". It is fun and easy to do, and you can do it while watching TV. I like to do cooking from scratch. Baking is my favorite. A long time ago, I did cake decorating and had over 40 different shaped pans. I've also done a couple of wedding cakes as well. I've long since given up cake decorating, but getting new recipes is always fun, and Allrecipes.com is my go-to for any and all cooking. I guess that about does it for now. WC 616  |
