A2 The Antipathies
A2 The Antipathies
The first thing you notice when you enter that space below is that you are turned all about. Up is down, down is up. But somehow something else is wrong here.
I don’t want to touch anyone or anything in this upside down world. It’s not so much that I won’t be able to touch as much as I don’t want to touch. People hang upside down, like bats in a cave, or like fat ripe grapes on their vines. But they hang, suspended, with no visible means of attachment. Anti - against all gravity. Against all logic. Pathos - feeling scared. Feeling untethered, as if I was not a part of this unworldly scene. Antipathy. I don’t want to be here.
Suddenly the untethered beings start calling to me. Like the sirens, the mermaids. “Join us!” They scream at me. I don’t want to be here. I scurry any way I can to get away, down the hole.
I don’t care about being a part of this upside-down world. Once I land with a ‘poof’ at the bottom, dust flying all about, I see the light above. Now I can tell what is up and what is down. Now I can make sense once more of my world.
