Prompt #1 Sept. 1 : My 15 years of WDC 25th.
Guide us through your writing life at WdC. Ups, downs, hiatus? What happened with you being part of this wonderful community?

I have been an active and dedicated member of Writing Dot Com (WDC) since January 25th, 2010. Over the past fifteen years, I have witnessed many changes, from the evolving interface to the shifts in community focus. My journey began by joining groups that are now part of the site's rich history, such as the uplifting "Showering Acts of Joy" and the educational "The Horizon Academy," both of which helped shape my early experiences. I later created my own groups to foster a space for other writers to connect, share, and grow, building on the collaborative spirit that has always defined this site.

The WDC community has always made me feel welcomed and cherished. During times when my health interfered with my attendance, members reached out, showing a level of care that goes beyond a typical online platform. This sense of belonging is a valuable aspect of my time here. Throughout the years, I have engaged in various activities, some done secretly for personal projects, and others openly for the whole site to enjoy. Each year, I work on my personal goal of writing a series, an ongoing project that has evolved significantly. I have also participated in countless site-wide activities and even encouraged my younger brother, Robert, known as Pennywriter Author IconMail Icon, to join the community and explore his own creativity.

Each year brings changes, a reminder of the transient nature of online communities. Friends depart, but new ones join, bringing fresh energy and perspectives. The introduction of "trinkets" has been a fun development, with each one telling a story or marking an achievement. We have also added new activities and items, from word searches and bingo to new contests and events, keeping the site dynamic and engaging for everyone.

Every September, we celebrate a yearly tradition. This year is no exception, and the festive atmosphere is already building. In October, we will gear up for "Oct Prep," a month dedicated to preparing stories and ideas for the upcoming November event. November features the "Write A Thon," a month-long writing challenge that pushes us to produce new work and support our fellow writers. December brings "Secret Santa," a cherished tradition where gifts are exchanged and holiday cheer is spread. To see what I've been up to, you can visit my Port. Why not come and join the celebration at Party Central 2025?
