Weekend Flashback
“No, Joshy! That's wrong. Go this way!" Sarah tugged her brother's arm with a gasp. "I don't want to miss it. Hurry up!"
"Calm down, we won't be late. We'll find it," the older brother patted her short bobbed hair with a slight smile.
Soon, they came upon a couple of girls in the woods, one with a fishing pole in her hand. They wore long, floral dresses and bonnets on their heads. Josh knew he’d been here before; he remembered the sisters, even knew their names. He thought about lingering here, catching up, getting involved in their story.
"I think we're going the wrong way. We were just here a second ago. Let me try," Sarah whined.
"I'll find it, be patient," Josh reprimanded. He changed course, twisting the dial in the opposite direction.
Next, a long stretch of highway opened up before them, and some police officers with white helmets zipped by on motorcycles. Sarah released a long, drawn-out sigh. She stomped her stockinged feet on the thick harvest gold carpet.
Josh cranked the dial again, this time a man with a long microphone instructed someone with a name tag to spin a giant wheel.
"Forget it. I'm just going to play with my Barbies. She left him alone in the downstairs living room with the television.
Maybe Sarah was right, they could use a little break from Saturday morning cartoons.
