Announcements pertaining to Writing.Com! |
Dear Members,
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of two beloved Stories.Com members: macyla and Spongebob Squarepants . The letters we received from both families speak for themselves, so we've included them below... We mourn the passing of macyla...
Her name was Jeanne, known by Stories.com as "Lady Jane". She passed away on January 25th, 2002 in her sleep while in the hospital. The cause of her death is unknown so far... I am her daughter and I would like you to invite all of your members to read her poems and her journal. My mother talked very highly about Stories.Com and its members, I know she made many friends on here, although I do not know who any of them are. Please let everyone know about her passing and please say a prayer for her. She loved literature and loved to write. May God Bless everyone. ~~ fancykat73us, Jeanne's daughter
We mourn the passing of Spongebob Squarepants ...
My daughter, Lindsey, known here, as Spongebob Squarepants, was killed in a car accident two days ago [February 2nd, 2002]. While going through her room, I found a list of passwords and email addresses for various websites. All of them had to do with writing. She was going to be a writer. I looked around Stories.com while logged on to my daughter's account, and I found that you honour the memory of passed writers by changing their briefcase icon white. I know this must seem silly, my asking for you to change my daughter's briefcase white two days after she's died, but I think Lindsey would have wanted it. I hope you have enjoyed Lindsey's writing as much as I have. I miss her every minute, and I know her friends on Stories.com and in real life will as well. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, ~~ Joana, Lindsey's mother (For the time being, Joana will be checking Lindsey's account for email; if you'd like to send her your thoughts, email to: Spongebob Squarepants 's account.)
We extend our most heartfelt sympathies to all the family and friends of both women. Their portfolios now wear our "In Memory Of" portfolio. Remember, your online friends care about you, too. Please consider making arrangements to have them notified in the unfortunate event that something happens to you. Sincerely, The StoryMistress & The StoryMaster Stop by the Stories.Com Store!
