12 days after Kincaid Fires began and from which approximately 78,000 acres burned, 174 homes lost and over 150,000 people evacuated from their homes for several days because of wind and fire threats. (I was one of those.) High winds and dry conditions escalated the fire. I came home to find a huge redwood tree from my neighbors' property had split in the high winds and fell on my frontage pasture gate and about 100 feet of fence. Luckily the power had already been turned off by the power company because the tree also downed power lines and if the power had been on, the dry grass of the pasture would have gone up in flames and most probably my home with it.
