March 25, 2020 - Samantha King - My Truth
March 25
My Truth by Samantha King. This is from her book, Born To Love, Cursed To Feel. I think I bought this book, when Indigo was Chapters and it was National Poetry Month (April). Was that last year, or the one before? Either way, this is another collection of poems written by a woman and each of the poems resonates with me. I chose this poem not just because it is small, but because its words have an impact that is stamped with potency and truth. It also resonates with my own truth.
My Truth
I lost everything trying to do right
My sanity, my hope, and eventually
the will to keep trying
What was shameful wasn't the way you loved me
but the way I loved you
You could never match what I gave
and deep-down I always knew it
