Hope Brings Gladness
Anxiety seeps like a skulking cat;
slinking along, hiding in the dark shadows
pulling a cloak of depression with it.
It fills the heart with a blackness;
like ink, impermeable
suffocating the sufferer
as they struggle to survive.
But light can fight the darkness;
like a gift, hope comes.
Its gentle words prodding, but not poking;
guiding with its initial flickering,
sending sensations of gladness
into a parched soul
that longs to find its way
back into the light
where life can breath again.

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression.
But a good word makes it glad.
