My boy


I'm always careful how I choose
the paints and strokes I need to use
to fix my child's beloved toy,
to see a face all full of joy.

I love to take my little one
to spend some time out in the sun,
but it is just a little ploy
to see a face all full of joy.

The days go by, I watch him grow;
he's learning fast, there's lots to know.
I spend my days teaching my boy,
to see a face all full of joy.

Prompt: Write a poem inspired by Louis Armstrong's "What a wonderful world".
Form Note: A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains, with each quatrain containing a repeating line or phrase as a refrain and lines consisting of eight syllables. The rhyme scheme used here is aabB, ccbB, ddbB, with B being the repeated line / having the repeated phrase.
