Tomorrow [Week 40 entry]

Tomorrow


Each night, right up to twelve its face unknown,
tomorrow dawns, the seeds of woe fresh sewn
that seek to keep me just a worker drone.

But Fate, it seems, has missed its chance this day,
for work is light and there's no verbal fray
to wreck my mood and cause my thoughts to stray.

Each meeting flies, with views from all around -
including those who rarely make a sound,
but now get praised for judgments most profound.

The day winds down, and though our efforts yield
some first-class work, we know our fates are sealed:
against tomorrow's die there is no shield.
