Restful Fields

The fields are green in peaceful rest,
surrounded by the pines.
The torrents dropped, in recent test,
and colored in the lines.

The fields of grass may soon become
some fields of cotton boles
or peanut tubers, making some
great meals to keep us whole.

The fields remind of parents’ house
so many miles from here.
The loss of Dad and his dear spouse
is grief so daily near.
