Wasteland [Week 45 entry]
Wasteland
No gentle tongue to wet my lips,
with sorrow I've not come to grips.
They bore her off, the one I'll miss -
I thank thee, Lord, for love's last kiss.
No joy to share and ease life 's pain,
my soul's become a dusty plain.
No loving touch, no simple bliss -
I thank thee, Lord, for love's last kiss.
Three years, it seems, have passed and yet
my heart our love will not forget.
No passion flares; 'twould be amiss -
I thank thee, Lord, for love's last kiss.
Prompt: Lost alone in the desert. The desert can be metaphorical or literal, your choice.
