A poem a day for the month of April, National Poetry Writing Month |
| This is What 81 Looks Like I am 81 years old and I eagerly embrace it. No more youthful angst, no uncertainty, I know who I am and I like me. Sure there is joint pain. I've earned it with hard work and active play over decades. With God's blessing I still stand straight and move fluidly. And there is something new, a little stiffness and clumsiness to add a chuckle to my days. No more volunteering, I serve my community more subtly now, raising funds to provide scholarships with other like-minded sisters. Recently widowed and retired, I'm determined to forge a new life. Writing will be part of it, family and friends are my support and cheerleaders. I choose to live joyfully, optimistically, enthusiastically, quizzically, and energetically. Happy Big Word Day! ~~Judi Van Gorder Prompt: "April 21 Poem--Aspect of your identity" |
