Funny Background Event Outta my way! There's a serial killer on the loose and uniformed officers are going door to door with flyers bearing a sketch artist's rendition of the malefactor. As luck would have it, an officer knocks on the door of a house that, unbeknownst to him, would be of great interest to detectives working a kidnapping. The husband-and-wife kidnapping team are discussing the victim's escape when they hear the officer at the door. The husband comments, "I'm surprised they bothered to knock" as he heads for the front of the house. As the officer tells the homeowner the reason for his visit, the freaked-out wife can be seen running back and forth in the background, screaming. Covering as best he can, the husband explains she's late for work. Angered at her husband's refusal to pay her ransom, as well as his demands that the amount be reduced (leading her to cry, "I've been kidnapped by K-Mart!"), the victim—Bette Midler—returns to Judge Reinhold and Helen Shaver's house with a plan to strip "loving husband" Danny DeVito of all his assets, and things get even crazier.1 Another great scene is in Jurassic Park when Dr. Grant, Lex and Tim are walking back to the visitors center and spot the herd of running Gallimimus. The audience—and Dr. Grant—sees them make a 90° left turn, but he completely misses its significance. He is enthralled with how they wheel, "...making uniform direction changes just like a flock of birds evading a predator". It's left to Tim to uneasily comment, "They're, uh - they're flocking this way!" Footnotes |
