Campout


Safe from Jonah's dissing
they admire,
but follow, each glowing cinder...
sputtering and hissing
the campfire
gradually eats the tinder

Shadows dance on the trees
cheery flames
puff up marshmallows and hot dogs...
sounds carry on the breeze
cousin James
trying in vain to catch bullfrogs

Embers dim with the night
then burn hot
as the morning sun lights the camp...
pancakes fluffy and light
hit the spot
their duty done, the coals are damp

Prompt: Write a Tri-fall
Form Note: A Tri-fall consists of three 6-line stanzas, for a total of 18 lines. The rhyme scheme is a,b,c,a,b,c (within a stanza, not necessarily throughout the poem), and the syllable count for each stanza is as follows: 6/3/8, 6/3/8. This form requires little to no punctuation and can be written on any subject matter.
