Walking In The Love Of The Lord; Casting All My Cares On Him! |
Today, in the year 1620, 41 members of a group known as "Separatists," signed the Mayflower compact. The Compact Decreed: "IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony in the northern Parts of Virginia; Do by these Presents, solemnly and mutually, in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid: And by Virtue hereof do enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions, and Officers, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient f the general Good of the Colony; unto which we promise all due Submission and Obedience. IN WITNESS whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Cape-Cod the eleventh of November, in the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King James, of England, France, and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth, Anno Domini; 1620.or" For the pilgrims, it was not the end of a journey, but the beginning. Because they where zealous believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as the messiah, Son of God, Son of man, they invoked the name of the Most High Sovereign God. They made a covenant between themselves and the God they served. They, by their very written words, proclaimed that they were on a mission for the glory of God; and despite a thousand different hardships, they founded a sovereign state that to this day, prevails against all efforts to dismantle it. The core of their beliefs was written into the constitution of every one of the 13 colonies, and remains in many of the state charters to this day. May what God has established never be demeaned, scorned or torn asunder. ~Kenword~ ♫~ Kenword~♫ (101@100513)_(101x2@030614)__________ (YCM_@122313) |
