A poem a day for the month of April, National Poetry Writing Month |
| The Hush of Spring Welcome to my garden I've waited long for your arrival Please join me on my walk. Can you smell it? Lemon and honeysuckle have scented the ocean air. I invite you to breathe in its salient clarity, fill your lungs with its goodness. Can you hear it? Our California Quail are cooing, their low-throated call in harmony with the fall of our footsteps cushioned by damp blades of grass under our feet, as we stroll. Can you feel it? The gentle cool air brings a slight chill but the April sun tempers and warms while the hush of the morning invites us to pause, sit, and simply be. Can you see it? Yellow daffodils surround us and smile, their buttery petals soaking in the coolness of an early spring sun. I can't help but smile back. I'm pleased you are here with me. We can remain here as long as you like. ~~Judi Van Gorder Notes ▶︎ |
