A poem a day for the month of April, National Poetry Writing Month |
| Ruffles in Cotton Momma made it. A cotton sunsuit with blue and yellow flowers and a fancy ruffled border. Summer 1946, Age 5, on a playground in Grass Valley CA. Some stupid boys laughed at my ruffles. Girly, girly, girly! I'd show them, I climbed the high wooden slide and on the way down a huge splinter impaled the back of my hand, but I did not, would not, cry. I still carry the scar. ~~Judi Van Gorder Note ▶︎ |
