World Pneumonia Day
I chose this day because of my bout with this illness last summer. No fun, if you've never had it.
I actually had a double whammy - pneumonia with RSV, which is Respiratory Syncytial Virus. Since both affected my lungs, I was one sick little lump of flesh. I lost 20#, was in the hospital for 4 days on the most Oxygen I could get, and then sent to recuperate at home. It took at lest 2 months to fully get back to normal.
You can be vaccinated for both, the RSV vaccination is new this year. I never knew anything about RSV before this time in the hospital.
RSV usually affects infants, but can also hit older adults. Pneumonia can hit anyone of any age. The last time I had pneumonia was in my 20's.
So a good idea, folks, is to take care of yourselves. Eat good food, don't smoke, don't drink alcohol, and get plenty of exercise.
