Passion

I saw the Grim Reaper once
reflected in a mirror
across from my patient's bed.
My patient passed a moment later
and his pet cockatiels began to sing.
His passion was birds.

I keep my Christmas tree
up year round always adding
new ornaments.
When I pass it will go out
feet first with me.
People will say,
"she had a passion for Christmas",
In truth, I am lazy
and it was a hassle
to put up and take down.
There will not be bird song.
