If I Fell

Serena was sixteen years old and the boy Damien, she had a crush on, had just broken up with his girlfriend Anna. Prom was seven weeks away. Serena needed a Prom date and she had been asked by a couple of guys but she said no. She was hoping to go with Damien.

Serena and Damien were friends and they had study group for Math together. They were going to study tonight.

Damien was coming over and Serena got the snacks out and waited.

Damien came over. Serena let him in and kissed his cheek. Damien was surprised. Serena and him talked but no romantic sentiments were ever exchanged. Serena thought this was her chance.

"I am sorry about that. I am sorry you and Anna broke up. I thought you needed a warm greeting."

"Me, too. I have a confession. Anna was always bossing me around and flirting with other boys. I found out something about myself. I couldn't wait to see what you were going to wear everyday. You are pretty and prettier then Anna but I kept hoping Anna would change. She isn't nice to everyone and that is sad. Two nights ago, I was kissing Anna and I was thinking of you. Anna caught me looking at you at school when she was talking to me. It's too soon but do you suppose we could go out and go to the Prom?"

Serena hugged Damien. "I thought you would never ask. I love you. I do want to go to the Prom."

"Serena, if I fell in love with you, would you promise to be true? Don't flirt with other boys."

"I have been crushing on you for two years. You went out with Anna and before that, Janet. I didn't date anyone. My friends thought I didn't like boys and Anna knew I had a crush on you. Maybe she noticed me looking at you. She said you wouldn't give me a second look. I could tell she was jealous. You and I had study group and I saw how you looked at me. I have been waiting. If you fall in love with you, I need you to promise you won't hurt me. Don't go back to Anna. I would be heartbroken. I love you already. "

Serena and Damon kissed. They studied Math. The next day everyone saw Serena and Damien together. Anna was jealous but knew she had lost him. Serena and Damien never hurt each other. They stayed in love and they enjoyed listening to If I Fell By The Beatles. Their theme song. Oh yes. They went to the Prom the next two years and were together. After high school? I can't say but he was done with Anna.
