         Huh, I suppose I have always associated peaches with the Niagara Falls area of Southern Ontario and Georgia. Nothing I experienced today had anything to do with sweet, fuzzy fruit. Now I can honestly say I know how laundry feels in a spinning washing machine. Shaken not stirred.

         You may get wet. There is no ambiguity here. Being bombarded, blasted, sloshed, slapped by refreshingly cold water is a given. This is whitewater rafting after all. That strong current and those irregular waves pummeling me know I am but along for a ride, a rough, wild ride. I do wonder where the regular waves hide and why they do not accompany us. I like the constant swirling and spinning. My heart lurches with each surge up and crash down.

         Colour me blue mostly because I was shivering, but I cannot quite grasp that I managed to stay within that slippery, writhing raft. There were unseen forces with me and for once, I was not gravity adverse, or is that defiant.

         Were there hazards? Sure, but I conquered the main one, my persistent klutziness. The rocks we skimmed past granted us safe passage. The waves toyed with us yet declined to capsize us.

         I am grateful for buoyancy and a natural affinity for water. Whether in a raft or bobbing in the Colorado River, I trust that I will float.
