Poems composed in response to Halloween movie prompts. |
| Prompt: Write a sonnet featuring the Halloween movie Practical Magic Two bewitching sisters from the East coast Sally and Gillian Owens by name Reluctant spell-casters no wish to maim Magic, sorcery, no urge to self-boast. Forced by a curse to be unwilling hosts never to harbour a love they could claim. Partners doomed to die; pain, sorrow, self-blame A choked life of regrets hangs, the curse gloats. Love does find a way, a smouldering spark ignites a bright flame that embolds the heart. The curse of bitterness bled in the dark. In Practical Magic true love embarks. Two sisters triumph, bewitching, brave, smart. 14 lines |
