| Another one of my favorite Blue Oyster Cult songs is "Astronomy." If you haven't heard of it, no worries. It wasn't a hit or anything and it was from an early album in the 1970's - Secret Treaties, I think. The were is a video on their youtube channel, but like "Burning for you." It kinda sucked. There are a lot of live performances of the band playing the song over the years which is fine, but I'm a meh when it comes to that. The song itself as also evolved over the years. The original version, for me, was kinda tame, compared to the hard driving song I heard on Cult Classic. Here's the original verison Here, the guitars drive the opening verses, where in the version I like, you hear keyboards. Astronomy is a song that takes my imagination to another level - a dark, spooky level, and you guessed it - I love to turn this song up FULL BLAST in the car and sing it at the top of my lungs. Here's a video I found with the version of the song I like that captures a 'space' feel. Buck Dharma sung the vocals on the original song back in 1974 and believe it or not the song has been recorded by other groups. Here's Metallica's verison from 1998 |
