Thinking About What May Be

Thinking About What May Be

As I get older
I often think back
On my past
Wishing for a do-over.
If only I had done that…..

And I often think
About the future
And what might be.

I am both optimistic
And pessimistic.

Optimistic that the world
Will eventually come together
And with the help of AI
Will solve our climate crisis.

And begin building colonies
On the Moon, Mars, Jupiter
and Saturn Moons.

and we may live
a long time
with new body parts.

But then I think
Perhaps we are doomed
As fascism becomes
nightmarishly real.

And it seems
the world is not
Taking climate change
Seriously enough.

and AI overlords
may soon take over
the world.

And we become
Their slaves
Or worse.
