Cherry Tree Memories I first saw Cherry trees bloomingIn DC when I was a young lad Almost 60 years ago The memory stuck with me Over the years I saw Cherry trees Blooming in Korea From 1979 to now And once in Tokyo As well Every spring time For the last few years I take a walk To see the cherry trees Before the flowers Turn into snow flakes Littering the spring time path Cherry tree blooming Is still the best In DC The Japanese claim The DC Cherry trees Were a gift From the Emperor of Japan But he got the trees From Chinhae, Korea More cultural appropriation Korean historians complain Poem should be inspired by the prompt/image in some way A minimum of 12 lines, no maximum There are no form requirements Your submission must be newly written for this week's prompt |
