My grandaughter called today to let me know her vehicle had broken down in a carpark. Our relationship has been tenuous of late-nothing serious. I had felt a little rejected though, I must admit, but now of course she probably wanted me to lend her some money. I wasn’t mistaken, she needed to join the roadside assistance organisation so they could assist her in her hour of need. “What’s the damage” I asked her, meaning how much was it going to cost me. I was trying to keep a sense of humour about it all. I said “Why don’t you ask your boyfriend for the money?” (I didn’t hold out much hope there, I just can’t see the attraction myself. But I guess I’m eighty something and he’s all of 25.) She told me the membership to the RAC was only $200! I laughed and said I’d have to drag out the from under the bed. Apparently that’s where I keep all my millions!
