Near Miss or Near HIt?
Whichever it was, it dropped a lot of water on us here in the NOrfolk, VA area. Hurricane Alex stayed off-shore and a good ways from us. The Outer Banks of North Carolina got hit a bit hard, but we escaped the hurricane wrath once again.
We're way ahead of the normal rainfall for the season, and I don't think we have seen the end of it. Best lawn ever is the good part -- having to mow it so often is the bad part.
The city has it's work cut out for it. Whenever it rains as heavily as it has been over the past week or so, the streets in many parts of the city turn into rivers, with intersections becoming knee-deep lakes.
Perhaps if this unseasonal rain continues, we can begin calling our city, "Norfolk, the American Venice."
