| Greetings! Earlier this morning, Writing.Com indirectly experienced a problem relating to an internet worm. The worm attacked an 'Out of the box' forum system which a site on Writing.Com's server was using. Writing.Com runs on custom written software and, as such, could not be directly affected by this internet worm. For information on the worm involved, the software it effects and the issues dealt with, please see: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/perl.santy.c.html Please note that Writing.Com was not targeted or singled out in any way. Writing.Com's index page was an innocent bystander in this situation. Only one of our five servers was affected; on that server, only the index page had a problem. This was quickly corrected from one of our regular backups. We are now taking further steps to isolate Writing.Com from any future issues with this other 'out of the box' forum software on our server.
