| [ASR] Roadkill in rural Oklahoma. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Quills ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Quills lay silent now where flit the flies. No words remain to speak of nest and warmth, to draw the lines of needled pines. They rest on hot gray highways. Our roads dismiss their fantasies of climbing trees, or eating bugs, of knowing love's embrace. No words are left for quills that silent rest.
