| [ASR] For a dear teacher. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Miss Jody ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ She smiles in a chair-and-a-half, soft throne welcoming children who need a hug or a story and never denies a child her say. She gardens between the seasons of classes, where nine-year-olds grow among the flowers I weed. Small price to feast at her table. She does not complain. Her sorrows ... secret, as she plans her future. She gives goodness to this world. And deserves to receive in kind. With hugs-and-a-half, she changes our lives, one laugh-at-a-time. Kåre Enga catalogue number: [160.444] juli 2003. Note: for Lee Olson's sister Jody. I had the pleasure of visiting her in July. (I changed only a word or two Lee.) The poem speaks for itself. |
