| [ASR] A tribute to the memory of Marianne Moore. ♦♦♦♦♦ Marianne ♦♦♦♦♦ And while I was mourning myself, An orchid wilted under your tri-corn hat, At eighty-four, never to be eighty-five. Your prose had set, your poetry lived on. While your devotion quieted the stormy seas, The ripples of your generosity spread far. Even exploits of your favorite baseball team, continued on. “They do not pry or prey” you wrote, “or prolong the conversation” And so you ended, Unassuming elegance, your life-source well-consumed, Your orchid petaled verses spent.
