This is my book of poetry that I hope to eventually publish with photos. |
Raining down upon us, it flows freely, Dropping to the ground, pouring upon me. I linger beneath the brown and cry out, The blackness within me lingers, causing doubt. I lift my face to yours, weeping with the flood, It covers me completely, covered in your blood, My blackness is no longer visible, I'm no longer dead, Though my body is tainted, covered in blood red. I turn about in reality, dreaming of eternity, People laugh and shout, they do not understand me. I have found purity in your forgiveness, joy in your life, I thrive where others wither, I overcome my strife. They only see the outside, only see the covering, Their anger slaps me constantly, their hate is smothering. Time has passed, it seems, slowly in your light, But look at my soul right now, it's shockingly white. I fall to my knees once more and wonder if you see, I could never fully understand the price you paid for me, What have I done that deserves your touch upon my heart? What have you done to keep us together, never to part? I weep tears of joy mixed with sadness for the price, And even now I realize you would willingly pay it twice, You died for me, I am now blessed to be with you, The tears that fall from my eyes are deep blue. This is a poem I wrote where I had to use the colors Red, White, Blue for a contest. My own rendition, they said it was too sad, but thanked me for entering. |
