To A Motherless Child (God Sent An Angel)
To A Motherless Child (God Sent An Angel)

Lost in my own mind
Trapped in my grief
Night covers the day
No balm in Gilead for relief

So God Sent An Angel…

In places unexpected
Heaven’s spotlight broke strobes and green hue
A voice fell from heaven to Earth
To my left, radiance shines through

So God Sent An Angel…

Not knowing my place
I saw her through fraudulent eyes
And as we left this den of transgression
I looked into hers and realized

So God Sent An Angel…

Transparent wings seem to spread
Wide and free in the cool wind
Her eyes are windows to heaven
Her soul the envy of men

So God Sent An Angel…

Her smile the manifestation of divinity
Her hair the strength of faith
She captures my soul with the sweetest whisper
Proclaiming the miracles of God’s grace

So God Sent An Angel…

She wrestles with my mind as regret sets in
Then appears in my dreams descending ladders from heaven
The world around us a deep sienna
Old as time and the concept of her being

So God Sent An Angel…

Since Genesis chapter three with the thought of gods
She defends forbidden gardens from sinners like me
I feel redeemed as I look upon her
A vision that would make any atheist believe

So God Sent An Angel…

Heaven will never be the same
As told by an errant bishop
But her leaving is for the good of man
Continuing the son of God’s relentless work

So God Sent An Angel…

She walked away
Taking part of me with her
And I walked alone
Yet nevermore feeling the cold weather

So God Sent An Angel…

And as I woke up this morning
With the sun shining on my face
I knew I will never be the same
Since this angel took my mother’s place
