166.52* Kiss of the cranes

Kiss of the cranes

         for Irina and Irina

Spent clipped wings,
the embrace of Siberian winter,
hoarfrost that will not let them fly
iris of the eye to eye
above the clack of beak.

Thin lips clasp
close in exaltation,
know that
two are one,
that one plus one
forever
equals
one.

Kiss of the cranes.
The opinions of other birds-in-flight
like water glistening
running
off.
