| These waving fields of Saskatchewan Fields of Saskatchewan wave to passers-by those off to metro complexes, those Winnipegs, those Calgarys, past ice-cold lakes and farms. They take no note of fields that bore the wagon wheels that tore the hearts of settlers, those immigrants who came with ox and plow, who soon replaced the Métis, slaughtered bison, busted sod, who sigh thin ghosts beneath the waving fields of Saskatchewan. © Kåre Enga [166.72] 2009-05-28 Note to self: written in Minnesota. |
