Notes on the religions, cultures, and histories of Heresy: The Book of Mammon |
Annwvyn Annwvyn is a realm of the underworld in Welsh mythology. In Heresy: The Book of Mammon, it is revealed that Annwvyn is the realm of the dead. Much like heaven and hell, Annwvyn was a created world, but it was not created by Azaal, but by Tyr. Annwvyn is a neutral world of neither good nor evil spirits, but equal of both. Whereas Heaven cycles good spirits back to the world, Hell cycles wicked spirits back to the world. Both heaven and hell exist in balance as they were created to do. Annwvyn however, was never intended to exist. In death, spirits are beckoned by powers to their respective worlds. It is there that they are kept for a time, before they are returned to the earth to start the cycle of life anew. Annwvyn changed that. Since its existence, spirits have gotten lost from transition of life to death. Annwvyn calls them, and that is where they go. However, they do not return to the earth. It is there they stay, and their spiritual energies are refined. Annwvyn is a massive engine, that condenses the energies of the living and the dead, and at the end of its cycle, it produces Lodestone . During the young eras of the world, Lodestone was a naturally occuring substance that accumulated of the course of thousands of years. It is the condensed echo of those that were. In simpler terms, Lodestone is spiritual energy that has gathered and condensed. Annwvyn was created to harvest this energy thereby granting Tyr, a vast amount of power, the threat however, was sealed away, and therefore he is no danger to the world. |
