TREMBLING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY
PROMPT: Music Monday! Write an entry from the perspective of the main character of a song...., but in your entry, the opposite happens to them, ( and be creative, don't just rewrite the song!) HMMM.. I've chosen the familiar Winter Wonderland because snow has made its return and the news reports feature far too many vehicle 'accidents'. I myself would never dare or dream of navigating a Smart car on major highways, never mind in winter weather conditions. I prefer a vehicle of substance over reduced fuel costs! So, here is my song as 'sung' by a Smart car driver: Air brakes squeal, am I flinching? Horns blast, blare, my sphincter's cinching. I'm a tiny Smart car Waging a vehicle war; Trembling on a major highway. Monster trucks they surround me, Belching, rumbling, each a bully. Their jet stream jostles me along. I can but steer, they're much too strong. Trembling on a major highway. On the tarmac I see some rubber I must avoid, try not to blubber. I can't afford to blow a tire Or be stuck in the line of fire. Trembling on a major highway. White-knuckled drive, I'm exhausted. Nerves stretched thin; my patience?, lost it. I really dread my commutes Next to the behemoth brutes. Trembling on a major highway. DISCLAIMER: Actually, my hubby is a trucker and I've accompanied him on a few cross-country trips. He's not a big-rig-bully.
