A Nice Chat
“Tori, may I come in?”
“Yes Harry, what is going on?”
“Why do I receive so much discrimination? Joe and I were having an argument; he called me stupid; I called him fat; and Rick took his side. I get so much crap around here from Elizabeth, Cindy, Dr. Butler, Dr. Gore, Rick, Kelly and Jodi, but no one here gets crap. Joe does nothing but sleep in bed all-day, stay up until 4:00 A.M., playing video games, and no one calls him out on it. I do everything that I am supposed to; I am the only student at Great Ascendency who is taking three college courses.”
“Harry, you might be more active than most students here, but you do things others don’t.”
“I am better looking, stronger, more charismatic, smarter and cleverer than almost any other student in the program, so I should be adorned.”
“Harry, with that attitude, people are going to continue to give you problems.”
“I just feel there is way too much animosity towards me when I haven’t really done anything wrong.”
‘Harry, I like you, a lot, but that is because you don’t offend me, and I think you are charming. There are people here who have been through a lot of trauma, and they are sensitive towards a lot of things you do; and that also doesn’t mean people out of here will be anymore tolerant.”
“As you know, I, too, have been through trauma.”
“I know, but Harry, you have been through very privileged throughout your life, so even though you may experience sorrow, you may not have experienced the same kind of thing that other people have experienced.”
“Everyone here is privileged; this program cost an annual $120,000, plus there are additional expenses.”
“Harry, there are parents who are selling their homes to send their kids here. From what you have told me, I don’t think your grandfather is making huge sacrifices.”
“They should then be doing more productive things with their lives; sitting around playing video games is not how Lucy and Ricky spent their Friday nights.”
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!:
“I feel though that I am very generous, but I never receive any recognition for when I am. You remember last Christmas when we were collecting toys for Toys For Tots, and I put over $30.00 worth of toys into the bin.”
“I saw that, and I was content with what you did. Like I said, I think you are a good kid, but you need to think more about your actions.”
“Thanks Tori!”
“No Problem!”
