What good is freewill ? |
1. Over Coming the Monster. I first met Eric Brenner at my job interview for a cashier position at Home Depot. Eric had been with Home Depot for 20 years and bragged about how only the district manager could fire him, but he could fire me for any reason. 2. Rags to Riches. After several years of insults and sneering hate from Eric Brenner. I filed a harassment lawsuit against him and Home Depot. It was discovered that many complaints had been made against Eric and the Home Depot lawyers wrote me a check for $5,0000. 3. The Quest! Eric Brenner fired me for a shortage in my cashiering. The store had begun to accept electronic checks and I handed an eight hundred dollar check back to the customer. No one told me that my register was not excepting electronic checks. The store took a loss and I got fired. 4. Voyage and Return. Eric played the Beatles "Nowhere Man" over the store PA as I was walked out the store. The assistant manager said, "Don't use us as a recommendation." I got another job at better pay and I enjoy shopping at the Home Depot. Most of the people I worked with have been fired or moved on. The assistant manager got fired. Eric retired. 5. Comedy. I think there is humor in most tragedy. Home Depot has hardly any cashiers and relies on self-check out. But, they still have cashier appreciation week. I find that ironic. 6. Tragedy. A friend of mine, who was a Home Depot head cashier died from lung cancer. He was fired for late punches when he began cancer treatment. His Home Depot insurance was canceled and he relied on his wife's teacher's insurance. It was mean and sad. 7. Rebirth! I feel confident I will survive Home Depot. ^^ V |
