Let Us Not Shrink Back - December 28

From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. ~John 6:66

This occurred right after Jesus' teaching that He is the bread of life and that unless you eat His flesh and drink His blood, you can have no part in Him.

You can't help but notice the numbers in this verse... "Six" is the number that represents man, and this verse contains three.

Let us not be like those who turn back...

…But My righteous one will live by faith; and if he shrinks back, I will take no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. ~Hebrews 10:38&39

Let us rather be like the man who said, "Lord, I believe, help my unbelief." (See Mark 9:22-24.)

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. ~Isaiah 40:8

Let us hold onto, reach out for those things that are eternal and not sacrifice our souls for the things that are perishing.

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. ~Psalm 46
