A regular (hopefully) muse on my journey through the Rising Stars programme |
It's the end of the year and it's time to reflect on how far I've come on this Rising Stars Journey. It's only three months into the adventure and I'm enjoying the trip so far. I've achieved, perhaps, the easier of the challenges that have been set. I love Haikus, for example, and also I often enter the 'Whispers of the Soul' contest. The travelogue was more of a challenge, but a lot of fun, I also had fun writing the Christmas Carol, the first verse of which came to me in one go while I was making coffee. The Boston Tea Party was somewhat harder because being British, it's not something I knew a lot about in detail. This meant I had to do a lot of research before I wrote about it. I then thought that everyone may well write it from the same point of view so I wanted to find a different angle. This led to bringing the Boston Tea Party to the present day and this meant research of a different kind, I wanted to find out the value of the tea that was lost, at today's prices, for example. So, into the future, into the New Year and bigger challenges are ahead. I'm planning on writing a story with my sponsor, I've never written a story or poem with somebody else. Even harder is the daily Blogging Challenge, this means being organised, having ADHD this is not one of my strong points, so we will see how this goes. The Dialogue 500 is another difficult challenge, it's something I'm not good at, so watch this space. I'm booked into the Novel Writing Workshop and plan, hopefully, to join the New Horizons Academy, both of these are going to be a challenge but are going to be invaluable in my ability to move forward as a writer. So, onward into 2017 and new challenges... |
