What is Faith?

What is faith? Is it standing up for what one believes in? Is it staying loyal to what one believes in? Is it trusting what or who one believes in? Faith is actually all of those and much more. Faith, like love, is an action word. It's useless to love somebody unless one is willing to show that love in someway. For example Jesus said "Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love Me," John 14: 21a. GNT

Faith just like love, is an action word. We can believe anything we want, but until we put some action behind those beliefs,, they're useless. James asks "My friends, what good is it for one of you to have faith if your actions do not prove it?? Can that faith save you," James 2"" 14 GNT.

Faith is useless if we don't back it up with some kind of action. God loves a person who has faith. In fact we read "No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him," Hebrews 11: 6 GNT.

However faith alone isn't enough. God expects that faith to spur us into action. Again James says "Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don't have enough to eat. What good is there in saying to them "God bless you! Keep warm and eat well" - if you don't give them the necessities of life," James 2: 15-16.

He goes on to wrap it all all by saying "So then as the body, without the spirit is dead, so faith without actions is dead," James 2: 26 GNT.

it's great to have faith but we must have more. We must show our faith by our words and by our actions.
