The Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt for February 1, 2017 is "February 1 is National Freedom Day. On February 1, 1865 President Lincoln signed the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery. This day was created by, a former slave, Major Richard Robert Wright Sr. so that all Americans could celebrate freedom. President Harry Truman, on June 30, 1948, signed the bill declaring February 1 National Freedom Day. Write something about National Freedom Day or about Freedom in general."

Freedom us extremely important to me. In fact it's important enough that I was will to help some other person give his life for his country for it. In other words I served in the US Army. I din't doo so for bragging rights but because it was the one way to guarantee that all Americans would have have freedom. My drill sergeant asked several people once why they had joined the army. They told him they had joined to risk their lives for their country. I told him i had joined to help an enemy soldier risk his life for his country and he was happy with my answer.

Freedom however is often abused. People take advantage of their freedom to act immoral and outright improper regardless of who is offended by their behavior. I truly feel that here in the United States the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast needs to be balanced by a Statue of Common Sense on the West Coast!
