Prompt: What does a person mean when they say they need space?

A man and a woman in a relationship. One says they need space. It means, they want to be alone for a awhile, think about if they love that person, want to keep being with the person or start seeing someone else.

With friends, they mean, they will talk to you about their problem or problems when they are ready. Don't pressure them. When the person is ready, he or she will talk to you. Don't suffocate her or her or crowd them. They will call you when and if they are ready.
