The Green Blanket Around My House

How green the blanket 'round my house!
The water coats the blades.
Abundant rain for artist spouse,
renewed by scent of glade.

What color spots in joyful dance!
Like children swaying free,
they wave their call to join and prance
through faces bright with glee.

The threads of time their quilts they weave,
stitched petal, fauna patches.
How gold and blue the days they leave!
The birds leave happy scratches.

The soldiers stand at sentry post.
Their helmets high, erect,
may sway at times from gale the most,
but ne'er their jobs neglect.

What ferns of mine, these dainty souls,
who breathe through holey arms!
As skirts of maidens, bridal folds,
they capture by their charms.

Quaint hands of green and pink and red,
"High-Fives" of daily hope
become the ears to lift the dread
of life and help us cope.

"I love you!" said with reddest hue
creates the rosy cheek.
These stems of love from me to you,
as heart-gifts softly speak.

The prickly green and berry meats
remind of snow and song.
Gay boxes topped with wooded treats
tug hearts to sing along.

What golden sweets great Giants give
to fill the mouth with peace!
With body full in sleep we live,
until the sun's release.

How green the blanket 'round my house!
How filled with joy and friend!
To dance and play and work with spouse
is life without an end.
