The Fair Parade
Every year they go to town
on floats and the back of a horse.
Others march and make a sound
with instruments of course.
The ones, who walk and show the town
their group in the greatest way
are flanked by some, who jump around,
gymnastic athletes they.
Young ladies crowned by town or school
adorn some modern coach.
The adulation must be cool,
so cheered by many folks.
The education floats are great.
They teach us to serve the best.
What scientists have learned of late
show we are truly blessed.
But one must wonder how it's done,
that ev'ry year's the same.
We're marched toward the carnival and its fun,
excited as we came.
A thought's perplexing as it's true. "Though great improvements have been made,
the name is never more as due.
"It's still just 'fair' as always played."
